Constanza Macras wurde in Buenos Aires geboren, wo sie Tanz und Modedesign studierte. Sie setzte dann ihr Tanzstudium in Amsterdam und in den New Yorker Merce Cunningham Studios fort.

Costanza Macras | DorkyPark wurde 2003 unter der künstlerischen Leitung von Constanza Macras und der Dramaturgin Carmen Mehnert gegründet. DorkyPark versteht sich als interdisziplinäres Ensemble, das mit Tanz, Text, Live-Musik und Film arbeitet. Die Kompanie arbeitet eng mit verschiedenen Staatstheatern wie der Schaubühne Berlin (2004- 2015) und aktuell der Volksbühne Berlin und dem Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus sowie Theatern der Freien Szene wie dem HAU zusammen.

Seit 2003 hat Constanza Macras | DorkyPark mehr als 25 Stücke kreiert, die weltweit getourt sind und auf Festivals wie dem Festival d’Avignon, den Wiener Festwochen, dem Seoul Performing Arts Festival, dem Buenos Aires International Festival, der Attakalari–India Biennial und dem Dance UmbrellaFestival in Johannesburg gespielt wurden. 2008 wurde Constanza Macras für ihr Stück »Hell on Earth« mit dem Preis des Goethe-Instituts als beste Inszenierung aus Deutschland ausgezeichnet. Im selben Jahr erhielt sie ebenfalls den deutschen Theaterpreis ‘Der Faust’ für ihre herausragende Choreographie in »Megalopolis«.

Nachdem sie bereits 2010 die »Arts at MIT William L. Abramowitz Residency« am Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) erhielt, entwickelte sie in 2020 erneut ein Stück am Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
2018 zeichnete Macras für die Choreographie im Film »The Favourite« (Regie: Giorgos Lanthimos, u.a. ausgezeichnet mit dem Oscar für die beste Hauptdarstellerin) und »Poor Things« (2023, Regie: Giorgos Lanthimos) verantwortlich.

2021 erhielt Constanza Macras den Tabori Preis. Die Jury würdigte damit »die künstlerische Kontinuität dieser langjährig arbeitenden Company und die einmalige, unverkennbare Handschrift ihrer interdisziplinären, wegweisenden Praxis, die ästhetische Maßstäbe auf internationalem Niveau setzt.«

Unter der Intendanz von René Pollesch entstanden regelmäßig neue Arbeiten an der Volksbühne, Berlin. Mit der Inszenierung von »Carmen« debütierte Constanza Macras 2024 an der Oper Basel.

Constanza Macras was born in Buenos Aires where she studied dance and fashion design. She continued her dance studies in Amsterdam and New York at Merce Cunningham Studios.

DorkyPark was created in 2003 under the artistic direction of Constanza Macras and the dramaturgy of Carmen Mehnert. It is an interdisciplinary ensemble that works with dance, text, live music, and film. The company works in affiliation with state theatres such as Schaubühne Berlin (2004-2015) and currently Volksbühne and the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, as with independent scene theatres like HAU.

Since 2003, Constanza Macras | Dorky Park have created 25 works that have been touring across the world, including Festival d’Avignon, the Wiener Festwochen in Austria, the Seoul Performing Arts Festival, the Buenos Aires International Festival, Attakalari–India Biennial in India, and Dance Umbrella Johannesburg, among many others. In 2008, Macras received the Goethe-Institut Award for an outstanding German production for »Hell on Earth«, the same year she was awarded the national German theater prize Der Faust for best choreography for the piece »Megalopolis«.

After receiving the »Arts at MIT William L. Abramowitz Residency« at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2010, she developed another piece at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2020.
In 2018, Macras was responsible for the choreography in the film »The Favourite« (directed by Giorgos Lanthimos, winner of the Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role, among others) and »Poor Things« (2023, directed by Giorgos Lanthimos).

Constanza Macras received the Tabori Prize in 2021. The jury honoured »the artistic continuity of this long-standing company and the unique, unmistakable signature of its interdisciplinary, pioneering practice, which sets aesthetic standards at an international level.«

Under the directorship of René Pollesch, new works are regularly created at the Volksbühne, Berlin. Constanza Macras debuted at the Basel Opera in 2024 with the production of »Carmen«.
